Val d'Orcia

The Val d’Orcia is in the central part of Tuscany, lying between Siena and Grosseto. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of Tuscany, the Val d’Orcia is characterized by astonishing landscapes hiding a multitude of medieval settlements, among which are, in particular, Pienza and Montalcino.
Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, the Val d’Orcia is the result of a Renaissance attempt to create a harmonious life between humans and nature, leading to the reordering of the land in order to reflect the ideals of good government and to create an esthetically pleasing view. The Val d’Orcia in fact represents the apotheosis of this noble project.
The result is an unspoiled landscape that is of unique beauty and that inspired Renaissance painters, above all of the Sienese School. What appears in their paintings as imaginary paradises is a marvelous reality, still to be seen when passing through this countryside. The painters did not idealize nature; they painted it just as they saw it, and so in the Val d’Orcia we can have the incomparable experience of finding ourselves in scenes from paradise.
Among the main centers, we would mention Pienza & Montalcino, but there is also a host of small historic places, true rare pearls of architecture, to help you lose yourself in this corner of paradise.
Luxury hotels, relais, farmhouses; in Val d’Orcia one can be a guest in fantastic Tuscan-style places, with bare brick walls, wooden beams, terracotta and pastel colors typical of the area.
Here and there, you can find medieval villages to hire for prestigious ceremonies, holiday homes in historic Tuscan residences and castle-hotels to satisfy even the most demanding traveler.
The Val d’Orcia meets up with the Crete Senesi and Chianti areas, thus making it an ideal place from which to discover the limitless treasures of Tuscany: cultural visits, personalized guided tours, food and wine tours, artistic crafts, watering places and wellness centers, Monte Amiata, gastronomy, the wine and much else will make you fall in love with this area.

Historic residences and castle-hotels in Val d’Orcia
Everywhere in Tuscany, but particularly in Val d’Orcia, one can choose from a multitude of very prestigious historic houses for rent, and for lovers of history there is the possibility of staying in castle-hotels in Val d’Orcia that are also available for exclusive use for weddings and high-level ceremonies.
In Val d’Orcia, noble Tuscan families themselves often allow demanding travelers to stay in magnificent castles or historic houses, furnished with antiques and beautified with stucco decorations, possessing enormous terraces and manicured gardens, all in a setting to make your stay an unforgettable experience.

Real-estate investments in the Val d’Orcia
Like Chianti and the Maremma, in Val d’Orcia one can “unearth” real treasures lost in the meanders of time, buildings or even entire medieval villages for private residences or real-estate investment.
The vicinity to Siena and Florence makes the Val d’Orcia a privileged area for the purchase of Tuscan houses, also properties for the production of wines and fine olive oil. More information >>
